In a first of its kind exhibition, Gourmet Weekend visitors can enjoy a behind the scenes glimpse at what went on during vintage 2012 in the Clare Valley. Participating wineries will showcase a series of photographs in this pictorial display, depicting vintage activity accompanied with commentary from the winemakers. In addition, the festival organisers, Clare Valley Winemakers Incorp. will present an informative master class providing an opportunity to have all your winemaking questions answered

Join us at the ‘long table’ under the marquee for a culinary journey through Italy with authentic dishes matched to awardwinning Taylors wines in our enchanting vineyard garden setting. The degustation menu has been crafted by Paolo Vitozzi from La Pecora Nera in nearby Burra and will feature the best of local Clare Valley produce. Each superb tasting dish will be accompanied by an equally superb glass of wine, specially selected by our winemaker and will include some rare selections from our museum. Join respected Australian wine identity Nick Ryan and the Barry Boys for a Riesling tasting exploring 3 decades of clos Clare Riesling from the famous “Florita” vineyard.
Nick will guide you through 10 vintages of clos Clare Riesling from the inaugural 1993 vintage to the current 2011. During the tasting he will also talk about the importance of the change from cork to screw cap and how the flavours and aromas develop over time under both seals.
Take a tasting tour of Riesling and Shiraz from the vineyard through fermentation to the bottle; taste juice, ferments, unoaked red wine and then experience these flavours in the finished product.
Join Andrew Pike and Steve Baraglia for an intimate insight into Pikes Wines, including a cellar tasting of the new 2012 Rieslings highlighting the sub-regional differences between Polish Hill River, Watervale and Sevenhill, a barrel room tasting of Shiraz from current vintages still in barrel and finish with a museum tasting of a selection of back vintage Riesling and Shiraz, accompanied by a range of vintage cheeses and crackers.
